Showrooms: A Design Resource

Explore some of the industry's finest showrooms through instructor-guided tours and lectures. The industry is complex, and ths course demystifies the showroom experience and enales the new designer to confidently access the products available on the market to complete a finished interior. Bring your design and resource knowledge up-to-date. View fabrics, lighting, and furniture, as well as window, wall, and floor coverings. The first class mets at the Greenwich Village campus; susequent classes meet off campus at a variety of Manhattan locations. The course takes the student deep into the business of interior design through the specification of product. Prerequisite: none.

What you will learn
  • How to access the sources for samples, memos and designer pricing.
  • How a design showroom operates.
  • How to source; fabrics, upholstery, furniture, flooring, and lightning.
  • A strong overview of the designer showrooms for decorative arts and furnishings.
  • Vocabulary for showroom shopping and placing orders.
  • How to read fabric content, layout fabric prints on upholstery and window treatments.
  • Ability to research and become familiar with luminaries within the Design Industry.
  • Experience and knowledge of custom made upholstery from frame to finish.
