Medium of Fashion: Textiles
In this course, you learn about the practical application of the materials, elements, and techniques used in the fabrication of modern apparel within the fashion industry. Aimed at students of fashion design or design professionals interested in understanding the “how” as well as the “why” of textiles, this course covers the components involved in the design and manufacture of apparel and accessories. Topics covered include the study of natural and man-made fibers, yarns, and textile structures such as knits and woven fabrics, garment structure, decorative trims, and surface design and applications (printing, dyeing, and embellishment). Multiple field trips will be taken throughout the course. Prerequisites: none.
