Journalism traditionally focuses on uncovering problems. Solutions journalism takes that process a step further and seeks to report about solutions to those problems. It investigates the ways people have looked for answers to problems — from homelessness, unemployment, and criminal justice to climate change and beyond — and how those answers work. This workshop will teach the basics of solutions journalism: how to identify what makes for a good story and develop your ability to report and tell that story in the best way possible. Meets Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m.-3:50 p.m., with a one-hour break for lunch. Note: The first day of class is Monday, July 8, and the last day is Thursday, July 25.
