Arts Management: An Entrepreneurial Approach

Social change campaigns are built from the grassroots to the grasstops. It requires investment from individuals and institutions to shift cultural norms. Arts advocates and activists are integral to this process and the key influencers to inspire change. Teamed with thoughtful and strategic plans, artists are empowered to make the difference they seek. Within this course, students convert theory to practice by leveraging the power of the arts to address current day humanitarian issues plaguing society. Throughout the semester, students explore the various aspects of the design, management and promotion of artists/art driven initiatives. Select readings, case studies, guest speakers and lectures empower students with the knowledge and tools to build social justice campaigns for both established arts institutions as well as artists driven initiatives.
