About This Program

Out of an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our students, the university has canceled all on-campus programming in June and July.

Registration is now open for our inaugural Online Summer Intensive Studies. Students 19 and older (or 18 with a completed year of college-level education) can now learn the foundations of art and design from Parsons' renowned faculty in real time from anywhere around the world. This three-week, three-credit program runs from July 6 - July 24.  Learn More

Students already enrolled in the on-campus July session can transfer their registration to the online program or request a full refund of tuition and fees.  Contact:

Enrollment Type: Credit.

Attendance and Workload

Students attend classes Monday through Friday for six hours a day. Classes run in two sessions (morning and afternoon) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:50 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. Attendance is mandatory. Students who miss more than two class sessions will fail the course, subject to faculty and administrative review.

Out-of-class work, which is assigned daily, is a substantial part of the program. Students who do not meet course expectations may be asked to leave the program.

On-campus Sessions I and II have been canceled for 2020.

Policies & Procedures

In order for you to qualify for a refund of tuition, your cancellation must be submitted before the deadlines indicated below.

Online Summer Intensive Studies (July 6 - 24):

  • Before July 1: Full refund of tuition
  • Before July 8: Refund of tuition less 25% penalty
  • July 8 or later: No tuition refund

Open Campus reserves the right to cancel courses. If a course is canceled, you will be notified and asked whether you wish to transfer to a different course or receive a full refund.

Students enrolled in the pre-college and college/adult-level programs in New York earn three college credits upon successful completion of the program. We strongly recommend that participants consult an academic advisor at their home institution for further details of approval, transfer, and fulfillment of graduation requirements.

Some Open Campus Summer Programs offer the option of on-campus housing. Following your confirmation of registration, an additional letter will be sent by email with instructions for applying for housing if applicable to your program. Transcripts issued by the Registrar’s Office carry the signature and seal of The New School. A transcript is confirmation of a student’s permanent record at the university. Students who complete Summer Intensive Studies may request that their transcript(s) be mailed to other colleges and institutions by submitting an official request to the Registrar’s Office. This can be done online at or by completing the transcript request form, which is available at the Registrar's Office or downloadable from the Registrar's Office website. You can reach out to the Registrar’s Office at, with any questions, or visit the Housing website for more information.
